Clean seas, clear vision:
Goggles and sunglasses from Sea2See.
An interesting project can be observed off the Catalan coast in Spain: Dozens of fishing boats go out to sea and bring back tons of plastic waste as well as their catch.

Frames made from recycled ocean plastic.
Sea2See collects ocean plastic from beaches and the sea in Spain, Ghana and Senegal to make sustainable glasses and sunglasses. The company works together with local fishermen. The motto of Sea2See founder François van den Abeele: “From Waste to Vision.”
How does Sea2See work ?
Every day, the fishermen involved in the project collect several hundred kilos of plastic waste in the harbors. But not every material is suitable for making glasses. This is why suitable plastics are selected by hand and unsuitable plastic waste is recycled in other recycling companies.
In the first step, a new plastic raw material is created from the suitable plastic for eyewear production. This is then dried, heated and shaped in an Italian factory. After coloring, the lenses are integrated into the frame and a new pair of glasses made from recycled ocean plastic is ready.
