24 trainees start at Binder Optik
At the start of training in September, Binder Optik welcomes 24 new trainees – the highest number in a long time. 23 young men and women are starting their training as opticians and will be spread across 20 specialist stores in the future. There will also be a trainee office management assistant in the administration department in Böblingen.
Managing Director Dominic Baur is delighted about the great interest in training at Binder Optik: “Our company is constantly growing and we have a great need for well-trained opticians. We are characterized by the high quality of our customer advice and we ensure this by employing qualified specialists in our stores. This is why in-house training is so important at Binder Optik. We are also regularly on the lookout for trainees in commercial professions for the administration in Böblingen, from where we look after all our specialist stores.”
Great interest in training at Binder Optik
Binder Optik regularly receives awards for outstanding performance both in customer service and as an employer. This is reflected in the number of applicants: “We are seeing increasing interest in our apprenticeships. This year, we have received significantly more applications than in previous years,” says HR Manager Sabine le Plat. “For the first time, more than 20 apprentices are starting with us again.”
It all started on September 1: the optician trainees were welcomed by their trainer and master optician at their respective specialist store. The latter will accompany them over the next three years until they take their journeyman’s examination. For the trainee in the administration department, the first task was to memorize numerous new faces and names – after all, she will be working with all of them at some point during her training.
Surprise mail for the trainees
One small drop of bitterness remains: Due to social distancing and hygiene regulations, the joint welcome event for all 24 trainees at the administration office in Böblingen could not take place this year. Instead, however, everyone received a surprise package with important documents for their training, information about the company and a small welcome gift.
Over the coming weeks and months, the optician trainees will not only go to school and gradually learn the various activities in the specialist stores, but will also spend a lot of time in the company’s own apprentice workshop. After all, optometry requires not only competent customer advice but also manual skills and a great deal of sensitivity! The trainee in the administration department in Böblingen will work in various departments, including merchandise management, marketing and internal sales.
