Donate glasses and do good.

Why eyeglass donations are important.
Almost two thirds of all Germans wear glasses. They usually buy new ones every few years. The old glasses are then thrown away or end up in a drawer. In some countries, however, glasses are very expensive and cost several months’ wages, making them unaffordable. But if you can’t see properly, you can hardly get a job. And those who cannot read the blackboard or exercise books have less chance of an education. The lack of work and education means that many people live in poverty. A vicious circle.
Discarded glasses are needed elsewhere.
At Binder Optik, we not only focus on our customers and employees, but also assume social responsibility as a family business. For example, the Baur family is committed to German-Malaysian relations, international species conservation, higher education and sport. In addition, Binder Optik supports the “BrillenWeltweit” campaign as an official eyewear collection point.

Binder Optik is a glasses collection point.
What does this mean? Spectacles that are no longer needed but are in good condition and in working order can be handed in at our branches. We then forward all donated glasses to “BrillenWeltweit”. “BrillenWeltweit” is a campaign run by the Deutsches Katholisches Blindenwerk e.V., which has been ensuring that used glasses find new owners in developing countries for over 40 years.
GlassesWorldwide” project.
“Donate glasses – give sight” is the motto of “BrillenWeltweit”. Discarded spectacles are collected, sorted, cleaned, refurbished and measured centrally by “BrillenWeltweit”. They are then sent to countries where many people cannot afford glasses and distributed there free of charge.
You can find more information about the “BrillenWeltweit” campaign here.
1 action – 3 good deeds
BrillenWeltweit” not only provides many needy people in developing countries with urgently needed glasses. The campaign also offers around 80 long-term unemployed people in Germany who are integrated into the project a new perspective. And a third positive effect: fewer glasses end up in the residual waste garbage can but are reused. This conserves resources and reduces waste.
