The future of ophthalmic optics

Retinal scan and telemedicine

The retina is the “inner lining” of our eye. Trained opticians can use the retina to identify the causes of certain visual defects. The retinal scan is therefore an important aid in choosing the right visual aid.

Coming soon exclusively to our specialist store in Nördlingen. We scan your retina at the same time as the regular eye test. If there are any abnormalities, we can send your images digitally to an ophthalmologist and recommend you to them.

Contact lenses for the night (Ortho-K lenses)

Wear contact lenses at night and see clearly during the day without lenses or glasses – this is possible with orthokeratology contact lenses (Ortho-K lenses). They shape the cornea during sleep so that the visual defect is corrected. The effect lasts for a few hours during the day and disappears in the evening.

Sustainability at Binder Optik

As early as the 1980s, the Baur family campaigned for the international protection of species: As a pioneer in the optical industry, Binder Optik banned tortoiseshell from the company and helped to enforce a trade ban on products made from sea turtles.

Environmental protection and sustainability are as important to Binder Optik as they are today. In our specialist stores, you will find frames made from recycled ocean plastic or natural materials, among other things. We also collect discarded glasses for people in need in developing countries and are sponsors of the baby emergency ambulance system “Felix”.
